Get the most from your Wedding Photographer

1 – Align your vision with the photographer’s

Before any pictures are taken you really need to sit down with your selected photographer and make sure he or she knows exactly what it is you want from your wedding pictures. A good wedding photographer will be skilled in many different ways, and will be able to accommodate different needs, so if it’s contemporary images you want, make sure you’re clear from the start.

2 – Prepare a list

If you’ve got a clear idea of who and what you want photographed on your big day, there’s no harm in writing a list out of people or groups that definitely want to make the final album. It can be a good way to ensure no-one important is missed out, you only get the one chance. Also, if there are any items (shoes, flowers etc) which hold a special meaning, let the photographer know – use their artistic licence.

3 – Stay in contact with your photographer

I’ve always prided myself on being unobtrusive, like all good wedding photographers, I stay out of the way and go about my business. However, if on the big day something is not right, perhaps your selected photographer is not capturing the right images or you want a certain group snapped, speak up. The next day it will be too late, and I know from experience that it pays to be flexible, photographers should always be able to accommodate.
